On April 14, Professor Zhou Xiaoqiu, Chairman of the Academic Committee of Sichuan Agricultural University, Dean Feng Lin of the College of Fisheries, together with other college leaders, visited Tongwei for exchange and discussion. Zhang Lu, Vice President of Tongwei Co., Ltd., General Manager and Party Branch Secretary of TWAD, warmly received the delegation and presided over the forum. Also present at the meeting were Mi Haifeng, Director of the Aquaculture Research Institute, Chen Xiaoru, Director of the Special Aquaculture Research Institute, and Yang Juan, Director of the Technical Center Office of TWAD.
The guests first toured the Tongwei Experience Center, gaining an in-depth understanding of Tongwei’s 44-year development journey and its remarkable achievements in the coordinated growth of its dual core businesses — green agriculture and green energy, and spoke highly of the company’s accomplishments.

During the forum, Professor Zhou Xiaoqiu stated that the College of Fisheries was established last December as a key strategic move of the university to optimize its disciplinary layout for overall long-term development. He reviewed the more than 20 years of close cooperation between Sichuan Agricultural University and Tongwei. The two sides have jointly tackled key technical challenges in aquaculture, delivered a series of landmark achievements in technological innovation and commercialization of research results, and won the Second Class National Science and Technology Progress Award twice. Professor Zhou added that thanks to the solid foundation of long-standing collaboration, Tongwei was selected as the first enterprise visited by the newly founded College of Fisheries, and the college looks forward to deeper cooperation in core industrial fields.

Dean Feng Lin gave a detailed introduction to the College of Fisheries. The college consists of four departments: Aquatic Animal Genetics, Breeding and Aquaculture; Aquatic Animal Nutrition and Physiology; Aquatic Animal Medicine; and Fishery Resources and Environment. It currently employs 34 outstanding faculty members with complete teaching and research facilities. Dean Feng expressed the hope that the founding of the new college would serve as a new starting point to further deepen university-enterprise cooperation, deliver stronger support for solving critical industrial bottlenecks, and put forward intentions for strategic collaboration covering in-depth industry-university-research integration and innovative talent training.

Zhang Lu extended warm congratulations on the establishment of the College of Fisheries of Sichuan Agricultural University. He noted that Tongwei and Sichuan Agricultural University share a solid 20-year track record of joint research, and have co-built a key provincial and ministerial-level R&D platform — the Sichuan Key Laboratory of Aquatic Health and Smart Aquaculture. Moving forward, both parties aim to deepen cooperation in applied research, and jointly bid for and advance provincial, ministerial and national key research projects and innovation platforms. In terms of talent cultivation, Zhang fully endorsed and responded positively to the university’s cooperation proposals. As a core measure to strengthen university-enterprise ties, Tongwei will provide high-quality industrial practice bases and employment channels for students from Sichuan Agricultural University, enabling seamless linkage between academic study and industrial practice and forming a positive interactive mechanism combining internships and two-way recruitment. TWAD will actively explore a more efficient, closer and long-term collaborative mechanism with the College of Fisheries to jointly deliver robust talent and technological support for the high-quality development of the aquaculture industry.

This exchange carried forward the long-standing partnership between the two sides and marked a new starting point for deeper cooperation in the years ahead. As a global leader in the aquatic feed industry, Tongwei has consistently promoted integrated industry-university-research development. Going forward, Tongwei will maintain an open and cooperative mindset to work hand in hand with the College of Fisheries of Sichuan Agricultural University, continuously advancing talent training, scientific and technological innovation and industrial upgrading, and jointly driving the aquaculture sector toward greener, more efficient and sustainable development.
